70T-DISC SKIMMER

The 70T-DISC SKIMMER is designed as an extremely durable skimming system combining oil collection devises and recovered oil pump into one, single point lift unit which is intended for the tougher recovery of medium and viscous crudes.  Two banks of oleophilic discs are capable of recovering hydrocarbons at a rate of up to 70 tonnes/hour.  Its variable speed feature allows the operator to time the system performance to achieve minimal free water recovery (up to 95% efficiency).  These easily deployable units are ideal for inland as well as offshore environments, and are heavy-duty enough to be used over the side of workboats in open water responses.  All components are designed using corrosion resistant materials for sea use.

Components of the 70T-DISC SKIMMER system are detailed as follows:

  • The 70T-DISC SKIMMER FLOTATION UNIT is constructed of marine-grade aluminum. The various size units utilize two banks of oleophilic discs to reach up to 70 tonnes/hour recovery.
  • The HYDRAULIC POWER PACK is comprised of a Hatz model 2G40 air-cooled diesel engine with a fifteen (15) gallon capacity diesel fuel tank, twenty-five (25) gallon hydraulic oil reservoir tank (with oil cooler), dual flow control valves (used to control the speed of both the skimmer discs and transfer pump), electric starting system and a control panel, all of which is mounted in a durable heavy-duty marine aluminum frame. Full control panel for adjustment of skimmer and pump speeds is provided.
  • The Hydraulically driven Transfer Pump is capable of pumping up to 70 tonnes/hour.
  • One Hose Set – Discharge Hose: 2 ea. 10 meter lengths with camlok connectors

Hydraulic Hoses:  2 ea. 10 meter lengths (supply) with quick couplers 2 ea. 10 meter lengths (return) with quick couplers

Set up of the system is accomplished by connecting two sets of hydraulic lines (to skimmer and transfer pump) and the oil discharge hose. Once the hoses are connected, unit is ready for deployment into the oil slick.
